About this service

The Parish Plan offers Episcopal and Catholic parishes the opportunity to develop their own content-managed Web sites with Drupal - without a high learning curve or steep prices. An average parish will spend $20 on hosting and maintenance after an initial launch fee of about $200, depending on the size of its existing web site and its needs.

Why are the prices this low?

The Parish Plan uses a pre-made web site profile as a basis for new church web sites, dramatically reducing the amount of labor needed to launch and maintain a site. Parish Plan web sites aren't "cookie cutter" - they can be altered in appearance and structure. However, each Parish Plan web site starts with a template offering information pages, staff profiles and directory, photo galleries, events calendar, and other features needed by most parish churches.

The Parish Plan relies on open-source software at every stage of production, which also reduces overhead.

What is Drupal?

Drupal is an open-source content management system (CMS) that allows web sites to be rapidly launched and easily edited. It is the platform of choice of the Parish Plan.

Drupal is being used by many international organizations, governments and businesses to increase and improve their web presence.

Where will my church web site live?

After signing up for the Parish Plan, your site can be hosted by the Parish Plan, your existing service or a new service. It's up to you. If your site is not hosted by the Parish Plan, you will need to pay your hosting company separately.

What if I decide to leave the Parish Plan?

If you wish to drop service with the Parish Plan but keep your Drupal web site, the Parish Plan can move your site to your own hosting plan if it is not already there.

Because Drupal is free and open source, the software will always be yours - you are paying for launch, support and maintenance, not for software. Thus, you won't "lose" your Drupal web site if you decide to terminate service with the Parish Plan.
